Savor the Season

Updated: 7 days ago

Finding joy in the pause before the change.

August is that golden stretch of summer, just before the first signs of fall. Long warm days, lingering sunsets and a little extra space to simply be. This month, I invite you to slow down, look around and soak up what is right here, right now.

In yoga, the feeling of fully savoring the moment is captured in the Sanskrit word Ānanda (ah-NAHN-dah), meaning bliss or joy. It is not the kind of joy that depends on everything going perfectly. It is the joy that comes from simply being here, breathing, and noticing life’s details such as the warmth on your skin, the taste of summer fruit and the sound of ocean waves.

Let’s take time this month to savor those moments before the season shifts.

Theme of the Month: Ānanda (Bliss/Joy)

Ānanda reminds us that joy does not have to wait for a special occasion. It can be found everyday in a deep stretch, a shared laugh, a mindful sip of morning coffee, or a walk at sunset.

When we move with this awareness, each breath becomes an opportunity to feel more alive, more connected, and more at ease.
